Sacha Greenwood

Sacha Greenwood is a Bangalore-based, self-taught artist, woodworker and photographer. After 20 years in the natural stone industry, he changed his career path and decided to follow his passions full time. His work with wood includes woodturning, fusing of resin and metal with wood and experiments with wood and stone and wood and glass.

Be it a hand-turned planter or a wooden coffee table infused with resin, Sacha works on retaining the wood's natural essence and making it as sustainable as possible.

All of his creations are nature-inspired; be it the rivers of resin in a piece or hand-carved sand dunes on a wall hanging. The Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi and Kintsugi play an important role in every step of the process while creating a piece, so much so that no two pieces are alike.

The bulk of the wood sourced is from fallen trees and wood that would otherwise be left to wither away. A small portion of the wood is sourced from ethical and legal sources, that farm wood specifically for furniture and decor.

Each piece is handcrafted by him, his assistant, Stephen, who assists him with his work. Armed with 5 dogs, who double up as inspection officers and models from time-to-time, Sacha continues to delve deeper into the realms of woodworking; keeping minimalism, art and functionality in mind.
